Snell Isle is a peninsula off Northeast St. Petersburg, reached by Snell Isle Blvd NE and bordered by Coffee Pot Bayou and Tampa Bay. Downtown St. Pete is about 2 to 3 miles south.
Developer C. Perry Snell bought the land on Coffee Pot Bayou in 1911 and opened Snell Isle in 1925, filling much of what was low mangrove island to create the lots. The first homes were Mediterranean Revival villas. Today the streets mix 1920s homes, mid-century houses, waterfront estates and new construction.
Much of Snell Isle is mapped in FEMA high-risk flood zones (AE), and the neighborhood flooded during Hurricane Helene in 2024. New homes are built to current Florida code and elevation rules, which is a large part of why buyers here are choosing new construction over older homes.
